LGA Annual Conference
About this event
Empowering people, empowering places
As local government faces the biggest set of changes in over half a century, this year’s LGA Annual Conference and Exhibition comes at a pivotal moment. Navigating these changes, councils confront increasingly complex community needs and inequalities, rising costs and static income within a challenging economic landscape and an accelerating pace of technology that will transform how we all live, work and deliver services.
This gathering will help local government tackle these challenges and seize the opportunities ahead. With the right backing, tools and agency councils can take a central role in prevention, public service reform and driving sustainable economic growth – cementing their place as the backbone of our country, working tirelessly to improve the lives and livelihoods of the residents they serve and support, while closing inequalities and building more vibrant places around them.
What’s new for 2025
For the first time, the LGA Annual Conference and Exhibition will see streamed content for the (now bigger) parallel plenary programme, reflecting the core council functions of “place”, “people” and systems-orientated services. Each stream will run over the three days and explore the latest issues, insights and opportunities for key council services and operations.
A PLACE TO CALL HOME
This will explore place-shaping policies and initiatives for the key issues of devolution, local government reorganisation, climate change, planning and local economic growth.
PEOPLE FIRST
This stream will look at people-orientated areas such as social care, public health and health inequalities.
SYSTEM LEADERSHIP
This stream examines leadership in digital technology innovation, local government finances and public sector reform.
