Salary sacrifice with CSS
Available to all UK public sector buyers – which includes central government departments and their agencies, the wider public sector and the third sector – our salary sacrifice solutions provide access to great value leases.
Indeed, using an average market rate comparator, CCS discounts are currently 18.5% better than the average of the top 10 leasing companies in the market.
What are vehicle salary sacrifice schemes?
A vehicle salary sacrifice scheme means employees trade a portion of their pre-tax salary for a brand new, low-cost car – meaning they may save on tax and NI. All they need to do is add fuel!
Employers often set up salary sacrifice schemes to help meet an organisation’s green agenda and help cut costs on an employee benefit scheme. The schemes can be cost-neutral for the employer and time-neutral, as the service provider will manage all of the administration.
What are the benefits?
For the employer:
- Savings for employers through reduced NI contributions and corporation tax. While the employer still has to pay NI contributions on the provision of the car, this will normally be much less than what would have been due on the portion of salary sacrificed.
- Schemes can be set up to meet an organisation’s needs – salary sacrifice can be low-cost, cost-neutral or cost-beneficial to the employer.
- For the employer, they are a hassle-free benefit, proven to boost employee satisfaction and loyalty.
For the employee:
- A brand new car of their choice, all for a single deduction from their salary taken before tax and NI. All your employees need to do is add fuel.
- Employees give up part of their gross salary and get a brand new car. Insurance, maintenance, servicing, tyres, breakdown and glass cover are all included.
- As the car is a benefit for your employees, they’ll have to pay Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) tax. There are no deposit or credit checks, so there are no worries.

Vehicle Conversion DPS (RM3814)
Our suppliers offer great diversity and expertise. We are delighted that 3 new suppliers have joined the DPS recently. With a view to informing our customers, a specialist vehicles leaflet has been added to the website which helps to explain how the conversion DPS works.
By standardising specifications and consolidating volume across customers, we can periodically secure improved discounts with the vehicle manufacturers through an electronic reverse auction.
eAuctions enable suppliers to compete online, in real-time. The auction can be based on price alone or other criteria, such as quality, delivery or service levels, can also be taken into account.
The next planned vehicle eAuction is due to take place on the 26 February 2020. CCS will be inviting customers to participate at the start of the new year.
We will check all submissions and decide which vehicles can be carried through to eAuction.
Vehicle Purchase (RM6060)
CCS are currently consulting with the suppliers on RM6060 regarding the supply of electric vehicles and what they see as the principal challenges facing the increased uptake of electric vehicles by the UK public sector.
Overview: The ROAD-2-ZERO ROADSHOW is a series of events designed to help improve Air Quality in UK cities. In 2018, the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) announced the governments Road to Zero Strategy, the ‘next steps towards cleaner road transport and delivering their Industrial Strategy’. With OLEV being a regular feature at our regional events over the last 5 years, it seemed natural that we now focus on the strategy and help deliver it to the masses.
